The senior women’s national teams of the organisations that make up the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). The world’s governing body of volleyball, competed in the 13th edition of the FIVB Women’s World Cup in 2019. The competition took place in Japan from September 14 to September 29. Due to Japan hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics. This was the first time since 1991 that the FIVB did not award Olympic spots. However, points for the FIVB World Rankings were given. Following victories in 1981, 1985, 2003, and 2015, China earned their record fifth title. China eclipsed Cuba’s previous mark of four victories in the competition’s history. As the defending champions in 2015, China dominated to win all eleven of their games in Yokohama, Sapporo, and Osaka. The 2019 podium is completed by the United States and Russia, who won silver and bronze, respectively.

The Chinese women’s volleyball team’s captain and outside hitter Zhu Ting was chosen as the World Cup’s MVP, retaining her honour from the previous year.

Three players from the Chinese team that won the gold medal, Yan Ni as the best middle blocker, Wang Mengjie as the best libero, and Ding Xia as the best setter, were also named to the Dream Team. As winners of the Best Outside Spiker and Best Opposite titles, respectively, Kelsey Robinson and Andrea Drews, two members of the USA team who came in second place to the Chinese Team, were also named to the Dream Team. Irina Koroleva, a Russian, was also named Best Blocker.

The top two teams in each regional federation’s FIVB World Rankings as of January 1, 2019, determined that twelve teams would compete. (With the exception of Serbia, the 2018 World Champion, and Japan, who qualified as the host nation.)
